To capture network traffic within Microsoft Edge, use the following URL:

edge://net-export

A button will be present to start a capture and to specify where to store the file.


Once the capture has been stopped, the JSON file can be viewed via https://netlog-viewer.appspot.com/ via the included link.

How to disable the V8 JavaScript engine’s JIT compiler within Edge

Starting with Edge version 96, an option is available to disable the V8 JavaScript engine’s JIT compiler.  This will impact performance with sites that use a large amount of JavaScript but it should improve overall security, as a large number of past security issues are related to the JIT.

EdgeDeflector

Windows 11 makes it harder to modify web browser defaults in comparison to Windows 10.  One option to make these changes is to use a third-party utility such as EdgeDeflector.  This free app allows another browser besides Edge to be used for default activities such as searching from the Start menu.

How to disable ad feeds within Edge

Microsoft Edge includes ad feeds within new tabs.  To disable this feature, click on the orb on a new tab page.

Automatic backup path for Microsoft Edge bookmarks

Starting with Windows 10 version 1709, a backup is made of Microsoft Edge bookmarks or favorites on a regular basis.  The path to this backup is:

%UserProfile%\MicrosoftEdgeBackups\backups

The file format is a .HTML file.
